That's why (almost) everybody marvels at Jupiter's persistence (and deep wallet)!

I'm out of warranty, too, but with a great Indy mechanic and no ///M. Jupiter's got big stones. 😙

Well, I've finally received a call from the dealer. He said that both fuel tank vent valves have been replaced, but they still aren't 100% satisfied that the fix isn't 100%. They've had it hooked up to the smoke machine for a few days now and are still finding very small leaks, so they wanted to replace the hoses from the vent valves back to the engine. Of course, those parts are in Germany, so a few more days.
That being said, I am getting more comfortable driving the '15 Sdrive 35i. Its not a bad loaner, but one thing I realized today.. The average fuel economy is only 2-4mpg better than the X5///M. That surprised me. I really expected it to be up around 20mpg for our city driving life, but its only reporting 16.3mpg... Kind of strange.

Well, here we go again... I got the X5///M back a few days ago and once again, she's running well and no lights. *knocks on wood* The total bill was about $1400, but BMW picked up $1100 of it, so I wasn't too upset at that. They did end up getting the fuel tank vent hoses from Germany and some final smoke tests proved the system to be leak free. We shall see...
I got it home and finally was able to fit the rear spacers. 15mm up front and 20mm out back. I'm really happy with that. Looks good and running well. My advisor said to drive it as much as I can and we'll see what happens. So, that's what we've been doing. I'm not holding my breath, but damn its good to have it back. Of course, while it was in the shop I installed the Dinan exhaust on my M3, the sound is so intoxicating... Now I want more noise out of the X5...

Mines starting to sound like yours! Bought it from a dealership in OR for $33k with 63k miles, had an EXTENSIVE service history at two different BMW dealerships until 50k, then nothing between 50-63k. I got to drive it for a week before I had to replace all the injectors at $1100 ($900 for the injectors, $200 for my buddies labor who works at BMW of Seattle), window gets replaced during the downtime ($500 deductible), finally get it running and an FRM3 lighting control module dies, fortunately through a long series of events I was able to get Safelite Autoglass to pay for it and it's coding ($1100 parts and labor) and have only had it back for almost a week without any issues (CEL for gutted cats, but I expected it) as of yet...knocking on wood. Temper mental little fu**ers, but walking E46 M3's at a BMW meet this past weekend made it all worth it
