Just spotted performing testing on the Nurburgring is the upcoming special X6 M model, which will come in with an even higher power output than the standard X6 M's 555hp.

The power increase is expected to be subtle and will remain under the 600hp mark. There will also be changes to the car's weight and significant changes to the overall feel of the driving experience.

As before, it features a large hood air scoop and air extractor outlets flanking the scoop. No details yet on what exact powerplant or modifications have been applied to the X6 M's motor, but whatever powerplant variant may be under the hood certaintly seems like it needs to move a lot of O2. The other cosmetic enhancement spotted is the addition of more aggressive sideskirts.

Is there a possibility M division is testing the new 6 tri turbo powerplant? I mean what better way to put an engine through the torture test than a heavy SAV and run the crap out of it.

Could it just be the updated engine from the M5?

Funny that the front emblem is covered, but not on the lift gate (or wheels).

Maybe they are planning to do another LeMans V12 into a SUV...........

I do like how they modified the hood.

The hood looks like it was lifted from the X6 Hybrid. Which was easier to cut since it already had the power bulge. Its even Blue Water Metallic. Thats why it has the covered roundel on the hood.

Hopefully this testing is going well, and whatever they come up with is fast, fun, and great to drive.

US specs too. No doubt who the intended buyers will be!

I wonder IF this means BMW Performance will offer a PPK bump for the M5. I mean why offer an X6M with more HP than your most sporty sedan?

Making a "light weight" X6 is like clipping the toe nails on an elephant ??? Why ?????

Well the 760li had 535hp.
That's more than all ///M cars up until the F10's came out.

It's not about HP, it's about power to weight ratio. The X5/6 is a heavy mofo.

That is a very astute guess. Tri-turbo technology is going to be critical to the entire line all the way to the M3.

This is going to be great. I've always loved the X6 but a super X6M is just mind boggling.

I get the blue water metallic being lifted from the hybrid, but what do you mean by the covered roundel? does the hybrid have a diff roundel?

Still no word on the X6 LCI? Maybe this thing will usher in the LCI just like the 1M coincided with the E82 LCI.

lol this. I mean X6M itself is already questionable. What's the point of making a lightweight X6M?
