KW V3 coilovers EDC termination modules?

KW V3 coilovers with EDC termination modules-

Has any X6M owners done this coilover kit yet?

Looks pretty sick as you can fully drop with dampening and rebound control.

Planning on doing this on my X5M but only know of one fellow who has done this.

I'm looking into this for my 50i. Looking at the full hydraulic system. Getting pricing from my installer this week.

I will be watching this thread with interest as well. I currently have the H&R 2" drop package and the look is perfect but the ride is a bit rough on Cleveland, OH roads. Of course low profile run flats dont help either but I suspect KW V3 would still soften the blow of minor pavement imperfections. I would not want to drop it any lower but if I could gain some "comfort" and additional handling I would definately consider the option. It looks like they have a daily driver option called the "KW Street Comfort" but this would sacrafice some handling aspects. I will be doing some research for sure.

So I spoke with KW...

Basically they only have the KW V3 for the X6M so that is the only option. They only sell as a package so it would replace both front and rear shocks/springs. The rear would still give you the linkages for leveling and the max drop would be 1.4" from factory. The fronts would give a max drop of 1.8". In general, the package would give some additional "comfort" depending on the configuration and would come in somewhere between stock ride and H&R 2" sport springs. Handling would be improved but you will loose EDC functionality. Basically you would just have to dial in the coilovers to your liking but it wont be on the fly like EDC.

I will need to noodle on this for sure.

Any of you guys get these installed yet? I was ready to pull the trigger a couple weeks ago and found out lead times are like 4 weeks. I suspect you guys are still waiting as well.

Nice. That frozen silver wrap could be interesting. Are you doing a full wrap? I had dabbled with doing a Satin/Matte black at one point but never made the jump.

Looks like Dinan now has a suspension for the X6M... Not an aggressive drop at 3/4" but I am sure the ride is much "smoother" if thats a priority for anyone. Handling might not be as good as the KW's but everything is a compromise.

Found out mine will be in this week.

Kinda 50/50 on the install, may wait till next summer, or sell...

I want a faster garage queen.

fitted mine

Much better ride than I had with the H & R 1,5 inch drop springs and linkages

The drop is also more than with H & R

I could go lower but I reckon this is the most one should drop a truck.

When you fit these you must ensure that the front shock sits as low as possible in the mount, which is lower than the OEM shock sits. If you don't do this you will raise the shock 25mm higher and will not be able to adjust the suspension low enough to the min spec KW allows.

I did this the first time and I was bottoming out on the bump stops.

Nice! The wheel gaps look about perfect for the truck. When you say its a better ride, do you mean comfort, handling or all of the above?

I actually have the 2" H&R drop so if you are getting improvements over the 1.5" then I suspect I would notice as well if not more so.

I wish the lead time on these coilovers wasnt so long...

Truck looks great. Are you still thinking of a vinyl wrap?

Bro call Nate at IND. he hooked me up with 2 sets in a matter of days!

I scrapped idea of wrap as I didn't want to change cars colour. Maybe I go matt White soon.

Ride will always be better with a coilover vs a spring as the shock is matched to the coil.

Feels firm but doesn't bounce and send terrible shock waves through car when you hit a bump. Plus you will be able to drop as much if not more than H&R 2 " drop.

Mine are set to 430mm from centre of wheel to fender. KW spec min is 415mm so I could drop another 15mm and still be within spec

Bob MG - Thx for the info. I placed my original order about 6 weeks ago with another distributor but I might cancel and start over with IND since I have dealt with them in the past. Maybe stock has improved over the past month.

Good to know about ride improvements. I would definately like to calm the bounce and the harsh bumps. I will take note of your settings as I tweak to my liking.

Thx for sharing.

I lowered it another 10mm

I can get about 2 and a half fingers between tire and fender on fronts (420mm from centre wheel to fender) and slightly more for rears (about thee fingers)

Ride no different Yay for coil overs!

I had the H&R 1.2" Lowering springs and did not like the bounce in the rear and the hard slam you would get when hitting a good bump or pothole.. Put the stock springs back in the car for now...

So from your posts it sounds like these Coilovers do provide a much better ride quality? I wanted to be sure before getting another lowering kit..
