Our MSRP's are $200 apart, with 15k miles I ended up with $870/month including 9.5% tax, no money down, but with 7 (refundable) MSD's. With 12k miles (deduct $30/month) that would be $762 before taxes. Note that in some states you pay taxes over the entire sale price (Texas) and in some states you pay taxes over just the portion that you leased (WA state where I'm at).

MSD = Multiple Security Deposit. You can put up a maximum of 7MSD's to buy down your Money Factor (MF) - which basically is your interest. One MSD equals one monthly payment rounded up to the nearest 100 (in your case: $900, so 7 x 900 = $6,300). One MSD reduces the MF by 0.0007. MSD's are fully refundable upon lease end. It is not a good idea to put money down on a lease, if you crash the vehicle your money down is lost. It's not possible to judge your deal based on the info you provided; you need to negotiate sale price and money factor as other variables are "set" like residual once you decided upon your term and mileage.

Don't know about your cost but you might want to take a hard look at the running board option. I Heard a lot of gripes about that thing. I didn't get it on mine and no regrets - even when I'm trying to get the skis off.

The advantage of doing this instead of just focusing on payments is that the monthly payment differential between a good and a not so good price and/or between a marked up MF and the standard MF might look irrelevant or very small (not so much when you multiply it times 36...). Go to bmwconfig.com it has good tools for negotiating a good lease deal. |

Couple more things: when you are making your calculations make sure you adjust your invoice price for the $3,500 eco-credit (in other words get the actual invoice amount and then subtract $3,500 and negotiate your deal based on that adjusted invoice price). Also don't forget to add at the end the $725 acquisition fee (be careful there too, as that is another place where BMW suggests that amount, but dealers can mark it up by up to $200, and will tell you that is a BMW fee that they can't do anything about....). Finally, if you are a BMW FS current customer you get $750 in loyalty cash which you can apply to reduce your capitalized cost. I was in your situation three years ago: first time leasing and with little idea about it. I am glad I found this and other forums. It was like taking a leasing for dummies course, and definitely paid off. Then a month back I was negotiating my new lease and needed a refresher, and again this and other forums and bmwconfig.com helped me refresh my memory and negotiate a fairly good deal again. So don't be afraid to ask questions (though search the forums first, as most questions have already been answered in the past), we have all had a first time... Good luck! |
