self leveling suspension 3rd row seat
I'm about to order a new 2012 sports x5 and can't decide if I should get the 3rd row seat. I know that the 3rd row comes with self-leveling suspension. 3rd row seat itself is not really important to me. It's all the small benefits that come along with the 3rd row pkg.
Does anybody know if the ride is smoother/softer with self leveling suspension than a car without self-leveling suspension? Also is there more leg room in the 2nd row seat because it can slide back? How much do the 2nd row seats recline? |

Hi all, I am new to this forum and this question raised a similar one. I just ordered an 2012 X5 Premium with 3rd row. Am I also getting self leveling? I could not find an answer by searching the typical web sites.
yslee, thank you for the question. |

did you get to compare it to a non3rd row seat x5?
I'm getting a sports X5, so I want to know if there is a definite difference from the regular suspension. |

I have it on my 5.0 Sport. I have ADAPTIVE DRIVE (which IMO is a must), and I assume the adaptive drive was the trigger for the self level. By the way, no extra leg room for recline rear seats. I believe the bottom cushion actually slides forward when u recline. Smoother ride with adaptive drive. Self level probably only a benefit when the rear is loaded, in my case...towing!...and only self level to a point...Full of fuel and 400lbs on the tongue...u still loose 3/4 inch...does not correct even after driving. Just my 2 cents. |
