35d Change Steering Ratio
Anyone know if you can code/program the steering ratio in the X5?
That's without the Active Steering and without the Adaptive drive. I compared the sport package steering parts to the non and the parts are the same (for the steering, not suspension). How do they make the sport steering so much better? I was assuming it was the programming (the steering wheels aren't different enough either). |

After thinking about it. The non-active steering X5 is "engine speed sensitive" power steering which is the hydraulic unit. As they all have the same part number they all have the same ratio. So, it must be the engine RPM and pump that is affecting the level of assist. Unless, there's something that controls the amount of assist.

Noticed on the X5 M it's a similar hydraulic rack (probably a different ratio), and has the servotronic control attached to it (the other X5's aren't showing the servotronic control). Still not seeing how BMW adjusts the level of power assist between sport and non-sport (other than the pump).
