High pitch noise inside vehicle

Just wondering if others have the same noise. I get a very high pitch, radio signaly sound, when I first start my car. It disappears after a few minutes but it sounds as though my radio\\\'s on, and it\\\'s not.

Anybody else have this noise inside their cabin?

Seams to have recently developed for mine. I don't think its a problem, just wondering what it might be coming from.

Either of two things but my bet is its this, if you have rear climate control turn off the rear fan in the back seat. Since day one whenever the fan is on there it makes a high pitched whirring electronic sound.

The other issue might be what some of us have experienced on here with the power steering pump. Try seeing if you can change the pitch of the sound by turning the wheel, if so its your pump.

My bet though is the rear fan control.

I had this in my 07 335i back in 2007-2008. It got so bad and wouldn't go away and dealer was unable to diagnose. BMWNA took over couldn't fix it, just gutted the car of all electronics and replaced everything in lieu of buying back the car for this and many other issues. Am shocked this is still happening to cars 4yrs newer!

.
Mine is is making the same noise, and I think it has to do with the rear fan, is this a simple fix, or should the dealer fix this?

Ive never brought it up to the dealer because I dont want them ripping apart the console and then putting it back together with the possibility of rattle. The kids don;t use it much so basically if its off I don't hear it.

I couldn't stand it, it was getting louder and louder, so I asked the dealer to fix it. They replaced the motor, so far so good...

I have the same exact issue with my brand new 12 x5M.
Random, not on every start up, not dependent with radio, hvac,or sunroof tilt. Will ck the rear climate control and see.
It sounds like it's coming from the engine bay area, does happen more often after warmup than cold.

Turning off the rear HVAC does not help, still makes the same high pitch noise. It seems the noise only happens after the car is parked after driven when hot.

One other weird incident today. Got into the car after it has been parked for about 1 hour, had the temp set at 60 degree no A/C. Outside temp was about 64, nothing but hot air came out of the vents. At first I thought it was just because the car was parked in the sun, the fan was set on 2nd bar and then all the sudden for a brief second the fan went to full blast, blasting hot air into the car and then went back to normal 2 bar setting. (At the time when it was full blasting the light on the fan bar didn't change). And then cold air started coming out of the vents (from outside).

Weird...

I am having the same sound in my '12 X3 28i..it's like cricket chirping sound. After searching many forums, it seems like the cause is by ECU cooling fan. The fan runs for 10-15 mins even with engine shut off and complete power off, you will hear it even without A/C, audio, engine running.

Google for "cricket chirping sound in BMW".

Which makes sense, because I never hear this noise when the car is cold or parked overnight. Only happens after a drive and after parking the car under the sun for awhile.

I have a 2012 x6m and just had this A/C thing happen to me. I was in M mode and seems when i accelerate to 60 the a/c fan goes full blast and back to the 2 bar setting (but no change in bars) i managed to make it happen three times. I think the problem is because i had the sun roof open in the up position and maybe the car was reading different temps? once i closed the sun roof the problem went away.
weird.
