Black Kidney Grill

I order new Gloss Black Kidney Grills from BMW (OEM option in Europe) and installed them tonight. Only took about 30 minutes (once I figured out how they attach). I can include step by step instructions with pictures if anyone is interested.

Let me know what you think!

I ordered them from my dealer, they sourced them from Germany, part number is: 51-71-2-150-246 & 51-71-2-150-247 (not sure which is left or right). About $209 with shipping for both.

I was thinking about these for my space gray but not sure how they would look, you are obviously in to black.

I changed out the titanium grills out for black ones on my Alpine White X6 as well and think it looks much sportier. I only did this because my wheels are also powdercoated black so it matches. Will have to take some pics once all the rain stops here and I can wash it.

Because they install in two pieces, someone could go with the black fins and keep the chrome trim ring. Might look cool if you have chrome wheels.

Looks really good. Something about a black vehicle with a lot of black accents and accessories. Bad ass.

Just hate keeping them clean.

I love black cars when they are not mine........very difficult to have a black car neat and more in a country like mine that rains 9 months per year, that's why I always buy light colors like white or silver

I agree, luckily I can garage day and night. I will not be as happy when winter rolls around. I will miss living in California even more!

Good picture! I have order the same Grills and received already. But not install yet. I will change chromium-plated frame only, and central titanium Grill keep old.

You can reuse the existing chrome ring with the new black fins. The parts I posted are really a two piece item, fins and trim ring. When you remove the grills, you can seperate the fins from the ring. Then mix and match to what looks best. Gook luck!

That being the case, would it be too mickey mouse to disassemble the grill and paint the fins? I suppose if your leasing the car or have resale in mind maybe you'd want to be able to replace the originals.

How much did the 2nd set of grills cost?

Both grills were $209 including shipping. You certainly can disassemble them, I am just not that talented a painter!

If you go that route, just be really careful not to break off the little tabs that hold them together. Let me know how your project turns out.

Iīve a alpine white X6 and the black kidney grill LOOKS GREAT!!!
In my opinion for black and white cars... itīs the only choice...
Then you also need the carbon black Bmw emblemmas too...
All windows tinted... black wheels... H&R springs to make it lower... 22" tyres... =)
I should post some pictures for you guys!
Also LEDs for the license plate and angel eyes...
