How important are adaptive lights?

Hi guys, can still change the order and was wondering should I add the adaptive lights option?

Adaptive lights are good if you do a lot of driving at night through windy country roads. if you do mainly city and main road drving then I would probably not spend money on this option and put it to something else.

IMHO It's nice to have but not something you will miss if it's not there.

I thought it was genuine adaptive, not just the fog lights turning on and off as you corner, I deleted the option on mine.

I have the Adaptive lights options on my X6 and they are genuine adaptive lights that adjust the aim left or right as the steering wheel turns.
(even slightly). The aim also seems to vary with speed as well but I cannot be sure of this.

The fog lights also switch on and off when doing slow manouvers (eg parking)
My car was manufactured in April 2010 so I cannot comment on whether the Adaptive lights have changed for the new models.

Hope this helps

Thanks, I do go to the country side on the weekends mostly, so I could find it useful, I guess... It says on the spec that they work up to 40km/h, so it could be useful on slow sharp turns... Am still not sure on this one.

I dont know about 40km/h, but mine are always working, any speed
As some already said, it's very usefull when you drive on dark winding roads
It really works
I love it

It's genuine on mine. As the engine starts, you can see the lights resetting itself by aiming downwards & up. When you turn the steering wheel, the lights actually turn towards that direction.

But don't worry about not getting it. As Dunzzy said, it's nothing big.

As far as I know , every BMW I've had with adaptive lights , didn't involve just fog or corner lights turning on. The headlight capsules move with your steering. Why would you not want to make sure any BMW you buy has this ? It's a safety option as I see it.

This option will be in all my cars until something better comes out.

Thanks to for all comments, nobody said it was bad, it was more of a nice to have (the least), so I added it to the order, as I did not want to regret it. Soon I will probably be looking for the perfomance upgrades after it arrives (as the wish to have smthg added never seems to stop), or I will have to leave this forum for good.
