X5 E70 2012 Hood latch/lever?

Aloha everyone...

Hope someone can help with this one...

I recently purchased an X5 xDrive 30D M Sport.

I live in the UK, so probably different to the NA models.

I am at a loss as to open the hood? I checked some videos online, and also the drivers manual, which all show a lever, but my car does not have that?

It has a kind of plastic latch, and no matter how hard I pull it, nothing happens.

I'm worried I'll break it? It hinges on a screw, and I too some pics. Any one can give some input?

I am obviously missing something VERY OBVIOUS, and someone will make me look very stupid...

Thanks

when you pull it, did you hear a thump? After you pull it, go to the front of the hood and right in the center under the hood, do you feel a lever?

Hi
Thnx for your reply.
No, when I pull it, no matter how hard I do, to the point that I feel that I'll break it, there is NO thump or click.
When I check under the hood in the center, I cannot feel a lever at all?

Just happened to my hood. No matter how hard I pulled it, it wouldn't open. Took it to the dealer and they replaced my hood cable under CPO. They said it was worn and wasn't operating properly due to the cable. My guess is your cable needs to be changed.

How many times do you have to open the hood to "wear the cable"?

Thanks for your replies...

But does your hood lever look like the one I have?

Mine looks very strange.

Looks like it's on the wrong side

In all seriousness I'd ask someone to press down on the hood or move it up and down while trying to pull the hood release. Might be enough to get the hood to release.
