2009 BMW X5 (E70) Diesel Fuel Filter

How often do you need to replace the Diesel Fuel Filter in a BMW X5 (E70)? I have a 2009. Also, what other components do you need to replace when you replace the filter?

Any DIY guide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for posting this link; it's very much appreciated! Is the fuel filter located on the driver side for the left-hand configuration?

Yes,
"The fuel filter was located in a different location on my X5 35d (MY2012, US model). The filter was much closer to the engine compartment, below the area of the driver seat floor mat. Only one panel needed to be removed, closer to the center (not next to the side skirts)."
