Just purchased 2011 X6 on 6/25/10 - issue with transmission - please help

Hi everyone. I just took delivery of a 2011 X6 50i. Black Sapphire with all the options! Only one dealer in my area had any in stock so I bought one of the 2 available. I have a question regarding the transmission. When I take my foot off the gas pedal, the car slows down very rapidly and there is a small jerk every time the transmission down shifts one gear. This happens whether I am going slow or fast...so at all gear shifts going down. Accelerating is totally smooth so no issues there. It just seems very unusual and I called my salesperson today and he tried to convince me that its totally normal with this transmission and these types of brakes - he says that the x5 and x6 are both like this. Can anyone tell me whether it is normal? Because it just doesn't seem normal to me. I had nightmares last night about this thinking that I bought a lemon

would be very difficult to analys online. I think your best bet is to test drive another similar car.

Make sure the trans is not in the sport shift mode. It will use the engine to brake and hold it at higher rpm's.

Just got to any other dealerships, ask them to test drive the X6. And see if there any difference. Good luck.

I have noticed the same thing but only at very slow speeds. Coming up to a light and your coasting .

Never felt a jerk, that is abnormal. Check with service ASAP. This shouldnt happen!

Just picked up my X6 50i 3 days ago and i can slightly feel it at very slow speeds also, but no jerking or anything like that.

I also experience something similar at very low speed (20/30mph) when decelerating...I wonder if this is related to the new 2011 7 speed transmission..I noticed that the fist 2-3gears are very close...sport mode...how do you check if it's on?

When you press the Sport button below your shifter and have your shifter move to the left side. On the screen it gonna say S1 instead of D.


Also happen to me in Sport mode but with regular drive it shift pretty smooth.

Any update on this issue?...in my area is very difficult to find another 50i to test drive
