X6 - Side View Camera
I was going through BMW's accessories and I came across "side view camera" as a dealer installed option. It seems to be similar to the one available for the 7-series. Does anyone know about that? Here's the link:

Very cool, never heard of it. Can't think of when you would use it though. I wish they had a blind spot camera!

Here's a description of the side camera system in the 7 Series:
"The Side View system gives you a better view of traffic coming from the side. Two additional front-end cameras are integrated in the front bumper, one on the left and one on the right. The images obtained, transmitted to the Control Display, offer not only additional comfort when manoeuvring, but also give the driver an immediate overview of traffic conditions around the car when driving through a narrow gate or leaving a car park." http://www.bmw.com/com/en/newvehicle...ra_system.html |

for the X6, at least according to xbmw6's link looks like it's one camera under front bumper. "The camera is located in the middle of the car under the bumper."
anyone know what this cost, checked BMW site but couldn't find it. |

There seems to be a problem posting the direct link. You can look it up in BMW's accessories section:

I called my dealer to ask them about the availability, but they could not find it in their system. They don't even have a part number yet. They said it might come in later since it's apparently works with the new iDrive system. If some of you guys can ask your local dealer, maybe some might have more information.

Do you think that it can be installed on the regular X6 , with out any sort of making holes in the bumper or some of that? |
