X6M w/ Roof Rack - First Ever? Pics Inside

I couldn't find anything online where someone had installed a roof rack before on their X6M but I like to bike...so I need something and I didn't want the rear carrier or to add a hitch. Thule had a simple no drill rack so I pulled the trigger.

I had a Thule and Yakima on previous vehicles - they do a good job but not a fan of the wind noise and the few inches that sticks out from the posts. I'd prefer the OEM but I understand it's a pain to install the base without having to drill.

On my X5M, I bought an OEM rack that sits behind the car. Easier to mount bikes and looks better IMO. Only drawback is, it can only hold 2 bikes.

Here's how it looks like when mounted:

Yeah that's way too long for it to fit into my garage without removing it every single time. So that why I've opted for the roof mount.

It will fold without the bikes - it will only stick out maybe 10 inches further from the bumper. With the roof rack, you will have to remove the bikes anyway in order to park the car inside the garage.

The upside to the roof rack is that you can fit a cargo box or skii, etc.

Which rails are those? And how long does it have to extend with these rails to cross the roofs of our cars? 52"?

Mine was done at the factory. I have the BMW crossbars and a Thule 1800 box. Works perfect. I also have the Thule Aerobars which I used on my previous X5. They did whistle a bit. The BMW OEM are silent.

Clean ride OP!
May I ask how did you replace your bumper reflectors? I Just bought a 2014 x6m and purchased color match reflectors for front and rear but can't find any thread with DIY
