Square setup means same size wheels and tires on all 4 corners (versus a staggered setup). Alignment is unaffected.

Depends on whether you want OEM wheels or aftermarket, new or used, and 18, 19 or 20's. You can frequently find used sets on here from just under 1K on up. My set of new wheels, TPMS and tires mounted and balanced was 3K. Figure out what you want, keep your eyes open, and be patient.

What some people do is use their stock wheels as winter wheels and look to upgrade for summer wheels.

I use my stock wheels as winters, it's winter about 6months out of the year where I live so I don't like to have a nice vehicle with ugly wheels 1/2 of the year. Not all winters are ugly but personally i like using OEMs and upgrading to a really nice set of summer wheels.

Stock tires sizes 275/40-315/35 on my X5M but on my wife's diesel I used 275/40 all around but I got her replica wheels that are only 20x10.5" in the rear. 275/40 on a 20x11" rear works but it has the slightly stretched look to it.

Several tire options in stocks tire sizes. Pirelli studded and non studded, toyo, and the popular all season DWS. Let me know if your are looking for a set of X5 M wheels. I have a set for sale.
