Along those with the OPs question, is it not possible to get Adaptive drive and paddles on the X5? I have been searching for days and can't seem to find one or an answer

It's an easy upgrade though. |

This was my purpose of bumping this thread - trying to get more info on this option, but it turned into a thread about who has paddles/who doesn't, who likes paddles/who doesn't. Nobody actually answered the original question….at this point it appears to be a standalone option, not affiliated with any package, even though I don't see it on the 2012 option/package list published by BMW North America. |

That's what I was saying - it may have been a standalone option, not dependent on Adaptive Drive or any other feature. Must have been a special order item, because it's not part of any package that I'm aware of.

I think so - it's just strange I've never seen it listed in any of the documentation/publications released by BMWNA.

As far as I can tell, it was part of the M Sport package on 2012+ models.

I just logged into bmwusa, and checked my VIN to see what options are on my car.
Code:
M Sport Package M Sports leather steering wheel with paddle shifters M steering wheel Sport suspension Adaptive Drive BMW Individual roof rails Aluminium M exterior parts in body color I'll look again since I have a new Cobb Accessport to install and document for you guys. EDIT: Confirmed, I do not have paddles on my car. Yet bmwusa seems to think so based on my VIN.

I have a 2012 X5 35i with sport package that was a January 2012 production and the actual code on the build sheet for the paddled steering wheel was "2XA." I recall when I ordered my X5 in late Oct/early Nov 2011, pestering my SA to confirm the paddles were included, as paddled versions of the X5 had yet to arrive on Dealer lots for me to see. ...It was an important option for me, coming from a 5-speed manual. |

Finally a believable answer. I just ran a 2012 VIN for a 50i with paddles and the build date is February 2012 (a very late 2012 build), so that would validate what you posted. It's no wonder so few 2012's have paddles - a good % of them were built before October 2011. |

If you are asking about pre-Oct 2011 X5s, I am not sure, but its been discussed here and in other forums before.
http://www.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=797973 From my point of view, its just not worth the risk or the expense. Good luck! |
