Anyone replace the Hydrobearing...?
So I've been trying to figure out a little clunk/rattle in what seems to be the front passenger side, and I think the "hydrobearing" might be the culprit... Has anyone had to replace this? The part number is 31126791397 and realOEM says they need to be replaced in pairs... Turner has them for about $75/each.
In the pic below, the part is #6.

That looks like the control arm bushing. Are the Turner ones poly? If you are looking for an excuse to upgrade I say do it.

Would you mind explaining what you are hearing, where it comes from, and under what conditions you hear it, in a bit more detail? I may perhaps be having the same issue

Wally- Yes, I agree, it does in fact look like a control arm bushing. My buddy has a pre LCI 4.8i and he's the one that pointed it out. But, when I found the same part on the X5M, it stated as being a "hydrobearing". The ones on TMS are OEM, but they're only $75/each (it says they must be replaced in pairs...)
MonteCarlo- You'll have to bear with me. I picked up the M the Friday before Labor Day, and then left home for a couple months on Sept. 2nd. So, I only put a few hundred miles on it before I left. But, basically, we get a very hollow knocking sound over bumps. From all my experience, I was thinking either strut mount, wheel bearing, or possible control arm bushing. Our noise definitely comes from the passenger side, somewhat hard to determine if its front or rear, but we definitely hear it quite a bit. I did take the X out and did some fast left/right jerking with the wheel to see if I could get it to do anything with sudden side/side movements, and I could hear it, but not much. I didn't notice any noise when braking or accelerating. Mostly just over bumps. Of course, I didn't get under it to see if anything was obvious either. When I get back home (won't be home until mid November) I have to buy a floor jack big enough to handle this pig! Hope that helps... Perhaps you can elaborate more as well and we can get to the bottom of the noises...

That's exactly what I am feeling/hearing as well. More-so when the car hasn't been running for too long, but it's exactly what you described. What's the fix for this?

Not sure as to the repair... Replace the bearing (if this is in fact the problem) which shouldn't be too bad. Given the name, I wonder if it's some sort of liquid/gel filled unit for dampening.. I'd love to replace it with a poly unit if possible.

Totally forgot about this thread over on X Outpost... Worth a read, definitely an easier and probably cheaper replacement... I'll probably start with these when I'm home...

No worries buddy... And I know what you mean about not having time because of work. As it would be, I'm out at sea on a ship (I'm an engineer on a large oil tanker) so my time/internet availability is extremely limited as well... But, just because I'm a nice guy I looked up the part numbers... Here's the ironic part... There are 3 different part numbers for each side. The first set of part numbers have been discontinued, which makes me think there might've been a design or manufacturing change somewhere along the line... So they changed the part numbers to a better design. As for the 3rd part number, not exactly sure on that one as it doesn't have any dates on it. The numbers are as follows:
L- 37116771929 up to 08/2012 ENDED R- 37116771930 up to 08/2012 ENDED L- 37116857627 up to 12/2013 R- 37116857628 up to 12/2013 L- 37116859653 R- 37116859654 I doubt they were still producing the E70 X5M after 12/2013, so I'm guessing that the second set of part numbers are what we all need, but I suppose if anyone has any E70 X5Ms built in 2014, they would need the last set of part numbers... I will actually shoot my local parts guy an email in regards to this... To be continued.

Ok, quick update. I got an email back from my parts guy and he said the correct part numbers are the last two (the ones without dates). He said with the CCA discount, you're looking at just less than $120 out the door for both links and the locking nuts for each end...
Definitely a cheap fix for the rattle. Will be doing this as soon as I'm home.

I hope it does! I won't be home until mid/late November, so hopefully you get this done and it fixes your problem... If so, please post so I know for sure before doing mine when I get home... Thanks!

Dealership found that #6 is cracked and leaking when I said I heard a clunk going over speed bumps at low speed...estimated replacement cost of $635! Doesn't seen like that big of a job...I remember replacing these on my E53 myself.
Anyone do these themselves on the E70 or know a more reasonable price estimate? Quote:

Honestly, it doesn't look terribly hard. I was looking at it when I got under my X to do the swaybar end links.

Be careful if making it a DIY project. In addition to securing the jacked car, there will be many parts, including possibly the wheel hub, which will need to be supported when taken apart to access the lower wishbone. To press in/out the bushing, absent an actual press, use a long bolt on your wrench with nuts and washers.
