couple of questions, just purchased a 2008 X5 3.0
for a winter vehicle i decided to go with a used x5. hope it was a good choice. didnt need the v8 since i already have the performance covered with the '12 m5. got it for 37K (canada) with 5 more years of warranty ( 2 years remaining certified + 3 extended)
just got stuck 4 hours away from home with the m5 and had a huge snowfall, had no choice but to drive it home in the SNOW with the stock M pilot super sport tires! a very nerve racking 4 hours on the highway, . its crazy. the M5 cant even drive into a carwash on a level surface with 1/2" of snow on the ground. couldnt get over the little 1/2" lip at the entrance. its now in the garage for the rest of the winter. anyway, can anyone tell me the secret to the climate comtrol system in the x5? i cant get it to cool down without turning it to the lowest setting(16 deg C) otherwise it blows hot air, even when set to AUTO at 17 deg so i had to go back and forth between max cooling and heating for the whole trip yesterday. read the manual and it has to be the most confusing climate control system ever. i dont remember it being this tough with my e60. as well, i have a usb input but its not recognized when hookng up my iphone (4). anyone with a 2008 that has gotten theirs to work for playing songs? i heard some get it to work using an y cable but not sure what this is, is the music still coming through USB? thanks Last edited by mainly; 10-31-2012 at 12:51 PM.. |

For the Iphone you need a cable like this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-5mm-AUX-Au...43d717&vxp=mtr If you connect the Iphone with a standard USB cable, doesn't work. With this cable, you connect the phone in one end and in the other end, USB and mini plug stereo into the car's connectors. In the radio menu you have to choose AUX input, Iphone. |

For the heat it's probably set wrong in the climate vent settings. There is a step between the driver and passenger side fan speeds for head body legs where it is a box with lines or a line in it. These lines range from all blue (only cold air allowed) to white(neutral temp) to all red (only warm air allowed). Set it to neutral ( one white line) for both sides and see if that fixes your climate issue.

thanks ill try it. right now its blowing cool air out the left vent and warm out the right.
AND it gets too warm after about 15 minutes. EVEN THOUGH i have the temp in auto at 19 DEG C. it should be quite cool at that temp. but its not... those settings are just whacked. cant figure them out. |
