Looking to get into an X5

Hey everyone,

I currently own a really nice 2014 Fusion Titanium that I love but have had the itch to get back into a BMW. My first car was a 2001 X5 4.4 and have missed it every since I sold it years ago. I was looking to get into something that wont cost me fortune to fix but also want some of tech of the newer models.

Dealer refereed me to this one, http://www.bmwofschererville.com/aut...75-in/2748637/

any ideas? thoughts? is this engine a maintenance hog like my gut would lead me to believe? I have been out of the BMW scene for some time so not sure where things stand on what is considered a good all around car. I don't honestly need that much engine but really like the rims and options on it such as nicer seats and cameras.

Thanks much in advance for any opinions,

It appears it has a CPO warranty, but you should know it is not the same level of coverage than the factory warranty. Also, FWIW, if you go beyond the CPO warranty, expect more maintenance out of the V8 than the I6.

Rule:

#1. DON'T fall in love ...!

# 2. Do your homework ...

i.e. this car has had 2 (yes, TWO!) accidents:
05/19/2012 VALPARAISO, IN - LEFT REAR IMPACT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE (Case #:901828219)
06/05/2014 SCHERERVILLE, IN - REAR IMPACT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE (Case #:902245052)

Keep looking ...

Hey thank you for the responses and advice. I'm certainly not sold on any one particular vehicle at the moment. Just trying to decide if it's logical and affordable to trade in my cheap to fix and solid fusion for an x5. Have been poking around the forums here and some problems such as the drive train snapping (10k repair) scare the hell out of me. I could not afford the car and those repairs as this would be my primary truck/only auto . Thanks again,

Matt

Just remember, A Ford fusion is a $20k which when repairing, you are fixing a $20K car and has much lower level of cost. You are not looking to purchase a $65K+ depending on the trim levels so you need to expect repairs and maintenance will be lock step in price. You would be purchasing a $30K car but will be repairing it, you will be fixing a $65K+ car and not the depreciated X5. Repair parts don't get cheaper like the car does.
