Lota hot air!

Check my "Lota hot air" thread.i've been talking to my SA & we opened the engine compartment & he showed me that ALL air comes in thru the front Scoop, angled down, in frt of the radiator(s), thru the engine twin turbos, then inthru the vents to the cabin,,,so if engine is hot on a hot day we appear to have 2 options if we don't want warm air blownin thru the vents
1) Shut off vents & rolldown window
2) turn on A/C

I've never had turbo engined car before so, It would appear that they r better winter cars than summer cars for comfort.
Don't know why BMW didn't have fresh air from the base of the windshield below the wipers.??
Anyways go to your dealer & see if you get the same "logic" from your SA.
Maybe that's BMW efficiency dynamics for northern climes only!
But having to run the A/C in the summer is Inefficiency dynamics if u ask me!
Let me know what yourSA says.
P.S. Actually 3 options, 3) Drive another car on a hot day!
PP.S. You mean 2 days ago it was not like this?? Maybe samething is wrong w/my 35i too?

Deda sorry to hear that. I have run my air conditioner continuously on trips to Nevada/ Arizona where it was 95+ most of the time, no issues.

Try venting only & see if my SA's explanation is genuine.
If very warm air is vented thru the interior, then we can only get cool air on a hot day by using the A/C.

sorry i dont have part number..i was mad after 6 hours of waiting....

Greetings to you all guys!

I'm sure i've similar problem. But like my battery problem, they don't know what to look for & it took 2-3 trips for them to locate real cause of problems, because Car & Driver long term x6 had the same problem which took them 2 trips to the repair shop to fix. How ridiculous?
Do you have the work performed code on your warranty repair order? Would be a great help. Thanx.

Without the a/c (snow Flake button) or auto turned on,
Do u find the vented air is quite abit warmer than the 16oC dialed in temperature setting?

Climate Chaos or Control ?

So on a warm day as in 25oC +, do u get cool air when u dial in 16oC with A/C off?
And u get cool/cold air w/ snow flake A/C on or Auto button engaged only?

Well,i alwalys use AUTO button on,and just set temperature around 22C..no matter winter or summer.

I guess you cant get cold air when ac is off,no matter if you dial 16C.

When i had problems with AC air was like from swamp, sticky and smelly..no matter what ac mode i have used.

I cannot get cold air from venting only w/ temperature dialed in at 16oC. Unless it's winter outside, under 10oC.
To get cool air into cabin , i have to turn A/C on or open windows while car is moving.
Seems SA's explanation is correct so far. That turbo engine, all air comes thru air intake in frt. of radiator, goes thru the turbo chargers & a portion comes into the cabin. So if engine is hot on warm day, the air vented in is warm. & we have to engage the A/C to keep our cool! & forget about efficient dynamics mileage while A/C is working.!
