Did you install aftermarket meaning you bought the OEM one and had it installed? If so, you probably have to take by the dealer and they have to reprogram the Idrive and computer to recognize it. I know many aftermarket items added have to be programmed by the dealer so the BMW recognizes them. Good Luck and keep us posted.

Doesn't matter. Nowadays, BMWs are such complexes machines that almost anything you add or remove requires them to be reprogrammed which costs about an hour or two of labor at the dealer. Just to change out the battery the car has to be reprogrammed which is ridiculous in my opinion.
