Folded intercooler intake charge pipe?

Does anyone know what would cause a folded intake charge pipe when the car is running?

I recently installed the new ATM intercooler and just did some vacuum hose replacements but made sure all items were reconnected back to their original locations. I was under the impression that the intake charge pipe would have positive pressure but it's soft to the touch.

Pic attached.

its a pretty common thing among diesels since stock pressures are higher than petrol engines as you know.. on idle since there is not much exhaust gas to spool the turbo itself but the engine still need to suck air to keep the idle.. it creates negative pressure or vacuum pressure.. if you have gauge installed properly you d see that.. for this deformation, probably you or one of the mechanics in the past may hold there to lean etc -not even assuming you took it off- caused structural dent and it went worst over the time.. its pretty normal thats why tuners switch to at least aluminum piping.. since aluminum is not hard as well they generally put dents on the pipe while taking the heat shield off for example.. with some heat and if that pipe is already deformed enough it even can get back to normal when the turbo pressure on positive side.. you can give some gas and see how it changes or not.. one way or another you need a new pipe..

Ah, thanks for the reply. I did remove this pipe a few times while installing the ATM intercooler and did have to bend it to make it fit. I just never saw it folded in or at least never noticed it until now. Currently chasing a P0299 error, car is in limp mode. Once I fix that I'll see if it goes back to normal. Thanks for the reply!
