X5 e70 2009 4.8 Petrol Sat for 4 months
Hello 👋
I was away and car was stationery for 4 months and I came back to a dead battary. I believe before doing any actions I have to check oil and coolant level. How can I can check the oil level when I don't have dipstick and I have dead battary? And if there is anything else I need to look for apart from oil and coolant please let me know. Thanks for your help with this! |

Are you worried it lost oil or coolant somehow?
Coolant is easy to check. Oil is a bit harder. If you have INPA installed on a laptop you can check the actual oil level via the sensor, however w/o a baseline you probably won't be able to make much sense of the number it reads out. If you're so worried about it being too low you can always just drain it all and refill with the proper amount. When you're ready to start it I would suggest pulling the fuel pump relay and letting it crank over a few times to build some oil pressure in your heads. After sitting for 4 months a lot of the oil has probably found its way to the oil sump and could be a bit dry up top. |
