Hatch not closing???
I hate to go to the dealer. But the rear auto hatch does not close.
It will open auto with dash button or remote. But when you press the red rectangular button. it just shifts a tiny bit and thats it. I tried making sure the lower hatch was closed. Any harder and i will snap it off.LOL It is trying to move, but it just twitches slightly is this what the hatch does when the lower hatch is open and you press the button? if so where is the contact for the lower hatch so it knows it is closed? any ideas or is dealer the only option?

You are still under warranty, so it will necessitate a trip to the dealer, at no cost to you for the repair. I recently had this repaired under warranty, it appears that this is a common electrical malfunction on the X5, according to my SA.

yes red button is lit.
I know I am well under warranty. But my local dealer is FAR! and now that I sold my E63, This is my only ride, so in order to get a loaner, I have to go to dealer I bought it at. Stupid BMW rule. At least in NJ I avoid it at any cost. a few weeks ago the suspension malfunction came on and my steering became much heavier. It actually felt like it was a better driving car like that.LOL. But i still resisted and it went away, after next key cycle. I rather deal with small stuff myself then drive 70+ miles to drop truck off. I was hoping it was something I can address. Do you know what they replaced when you had the issue?

Is that true that you can only get a loaner from the dealer you bought it at?

Have a problem very intermittant with mine.
I close it, then when hatched, will bip 3 times, then go back up. Annoying when you close it and leave your vehicule to enter a store. I get out and the hatch's opened. They told me to fix it, they've adjusted the lower hatch, and it did work for a while. Maybe it's the sensor that indicates the lower hatch's closed. By force closing it, I do think you're making matters worse. And no, I don't know where this sensor is, but a clue, it'd be close to the latch where the lower hatch attach when closed. As for the loaner, never had any problems anywhere. Sales and Service are 2 separate entities.

Close the lower hatch gently - do not slam it. Then push gently but firmly on each side latch until you hear the click. Two clicks and the latch is closed and the red button will operate. Try to stay away from the dealer if this works - the more they try to adjust it the more they will f$%^ it up ... just saying.
