Door compartment lights not working

I just noticed in my X5 E70, I have "Door compartment light" in each door. However, I have not seen them light up at any time. Does anyone know when they are supposed to light up? Any ideas or suggestions as to why they are not working? Possible causes? (Lights failed - all 4 I doubt), fuse? control module? I am attaching image from the tech manual. thank you ...

I was not even aware that they existed. Today, I noticed that inside door handle lights #5 are also not working. None (out of 4) of them. This is probably related to the other issue of #15 and #16 not working. Do you think that the problem is with footweel module? Is there a single fuse related to these lights that I can check?

Probably a fuse, unless none of you have the ambient lighting package to begin with. It's standard on all X5 models in the US unless you have the base.

Legitimate, if you think that it is a fuse, could you please let me know where to look for it? There is a fuse panel in the front and one in the back. Also, I have a 9CBB "Short-circuit fault" showing up for the FRM module. Could this be the cause of ambient lights not working? I did find out that I have these lights and they should be working (per BMW). These are the only lights in the car, which use fiber-optic wiring vs all others - copper wire.

Wasn't it you who attempted a DIY install of the illuminated doorseals not so long ago?

Yes, I did install the illuminated door seals. They work great. No problems at all with those.

Anyone has any idea of what the issue with door compartment and inside (behind the opening handle) light could possibly be? Could it be the footwell module issue?

I have a similiar issue. All four door handle lights work, but only the two passanger side door bin lights work. the Driver side door bins do not light up and I can't trace down why?
