Aftermarket Modifications for 2008 X5 4.8i

Hello,

I've been a member of 1addicts for a while as I just moved out of my 135i. I needed something bigger so I found a good deal on an 08 x5 4.8l V8. I have been looking around but havn't really found any performance kind of mods that I can do to this vehicle. Does anyone have any advice?

Just made the same move. 2011 E92 M3 to a 2008 X5 4.8i.

Personally, I think modding this vehicle is a waste. At most a drop-in filter (BMC, etc.). It's intended function is as a utility daily driver. Save your mod money for weekend/track car.

Cheers.

yea you're probably right, maybe even something like lowering suspension and some body aesthetics but that's about it

I did ESS Tuning upgrade but can't recommend it. Didn't make any difference that I'm aware of.

that's a lot of money especially if you notice no difference for a flash tune. I guess i'm at a loss here. Will just be daily driver anyways. Thanks.

true, I may be looking for an exhaust system and some good wheels preferally vmrs for them. If anyone has any recommendations please let me know. In the meantime I will search around. I did find this tune

https://www.vividracing.com/catalog/...150774094.html but it's ridiculously priced for a supposed +5bhp gain and the ECU has to be mailed in as well. That is a horrible inconvenience. Don't know why a product like that would even exist if you have the ECU disassembled and then flashed at the company, and if you are not satisfied you have to ship it back to them? Leaving the vehicle inoperable.

Just drive it like you stole it. It's plenty fast feel once you get up into 100-130mph range.

yea i looked around and will probably just go for performance grill, some wheels and darker tint. That itself would be enough. The exhaust systems out there are not worth it in my opinion.

They aren't honestly. I did the muffler delete and it does sound good but a bit loud. I need to get the magna flows installed but haven't had the time. It should soften it a bit.

ok good to know, yea there were some by like eisenmann, I think, and maybe another company but they wanted over $2000 for an exhaust catback system, not even midpipes or anything. Seems like a rip off. I just want a more aggressive sound that's all but either way, stock or not, i'd be satisfied.

Just drive the 4.8i and enjoy it for the simple (relatively speaking) beast that it is. Upgrade to turbo era BMW and then you have decent options for hp/tq increases.

i just came from a 135 so i know what is in store for turbo cars. This to me is an upgraded vehicle, seeing how it costs about twice as much. I am just trying to get a little extra performance from it, nothing wrong with that.
