I wanted it off because I don't want BMW to know my mileage or remind me that service is due. If I want service I have to call and do it my self.

You don't have to explain. It's your car. I was asked which feature I want to remove and I told them to remove the service feature where it will not communicate with BMW dealership.i was told that if I do press the "service request" button, the request would go nowhere because your proffered dealership has been removed. Hope this helps!!
