X6 Electrical problems
Can anyone shed some light on how to solve this ever growing problem.....
BMW X6 2009 70K full service history About a month ago pulled into the petrol station..stopped applied electric handbrake....A loud grinding noise came from the car followed by a bang and a crunch.....at first i thought it was someone else...until i noticed everyone looking at me. Tried to drive off...only to find the hand brake stuck on...Read book found emergency release....anyway i could not get the car booked in for 2 weeks...so i drove it around without a handbrake ..no big deal as its an auto..Dropped it off to the garage...told them the story ...drove away from garage....about an hour latter i get a call from the garage that the car would not start...the Sat nav i drive was down..and that nothing electrical on the car was working???.....They insisted that they had no idea what was wrong and had only plugged the car into there diagnostics computer.. the garage said they thought it was a broken "floor Module"..but did not fit those.... so i collected the car and took it to a BMW specialist.......This garage said that the car had 45 electrical faults....and that this was impossible .....he said the floor module was broken ...so we replaced it.....this made the car possible to drive...but nothing worked.....he now says the head unit on the I drive needs replacing plus the hand brake plus the glow plugs plus 2 other modules at a total of £3800.....However some one said to me just disconnect the battery and leave it disconnected for an hour...re connect it and the car will do a full system re start and be good as new....i really dont want to spend the money if i dont have too........has anyone experienced anything like this before |

ok Up date.....floor module replaced....I drive is being taken out and repaired on Tues along with the central locking module and the hand brake module....bill estimated to be £4650.00
be careful...i think the first garage made a wrong connection..or connected the wrong machine to the car ...causing all this damage....and this is one to remember...if you take a car to a garage due to an electrical problem..and the garage insists that the whatever gadget is broken and thus needs replacing...remember if its electrical..nothing has snapped or physically broken...99% o the time it can be fixed.... |
