Same codes I sometimes get smoothness regulator with it.
I am working on getting ista set up but need bmw tools first.... I found that on bimmergeeks but it is not working. Tried using inpa to swap injector codes but it gives an error. I found a video where the guy uses inpa to code injectors but after engine he goes into msd80... with my 35d i think i have to go into m57.... when i do it cannotfind it. |

Did some reading...i am doing it right but the files are not in the inpa version i am using...post below. Unfortunately he did not say where he got it.
Also...tried 2 different ista downloads but cannot get either of the to work. " I found an INPA/EDIABAS package that had newer INPA .ipo files, including the dde73kwp.ipo and dde73kwp.ini files which reference the D73N57C0.prg file. Will update if this worked." |

Got ista working.... confirmed that i can communicate with the dde...
Does the procedure below look correct. I got it from an e90 post with a 335d...same engine. "I just about forgot how to use ISTA+ to code my injector so for ease of reference, instructions below: Warnings for ISTA+: - Compatible K+DCAN cable required - Keep a battery tender on your car. Turn off lights, radio, hvac, etc... to preserve battery power. Not doing so can result in a fried DDE and a dead car. I'm a rebel though and did this quickly without a battery tender. 1. Vehicle Information (You must first pull all fault codes.) 2. Navigate to: - Vehicle management -- Service functions --- Digital Diesel Electronics ----Adjustment functions -----Injection quantity compensation 3. In the right panel, select "ABL Injection quantity compensation", click "Display" 4. Click "Continue" after observing your current injector calibration values. 5. Select "1" To update your new injector calibration value and click "Continue". 6. Input the cylinder number for which injector you are updating. 1 is at the front of the engine, 6 is at the back. 7. Input the new Injector calibration value. 8. Save your new value. 9. Turn off the ignition. 10. Turn on the ignition. 11. Exit ISTA+." |

I swapped codes on 5 and 6 using the procedure above. Started it and it seemed to idle fine. I will run out like that for a few days and see how it goes.
I saw a videos that the had you enter the energy and stroke settings When coding injectors do the diesels have just a code that is entered? |

Have you checked the resistance of the injectors yet?

So i ran all last week with codes from 5&6 swapped and the adaption error only came up 2x's. Usually it would come up daily after clearing.
Put the correct codes for 5&6 back last night... And so far today i got 2 errors each for lambda probe heating control 004207. I think that this is a O2 sensor....kinda weird this would come up now. If the O2 sensor is bad i will change it out....location? |

So quick update.... the zero quanity adaption is nearly gone now after swapping codes. Comes up 1 every 2 weeks. Hoping that will eventually go away with some miles... i drove 6 months with that error.
Replaced the he o2 sensor last night and the lambda error is gone. Now got an injection amount control (Fmo)...this morning. Seems there is no end to this...almost comical.... |

So the zero quantity adaption is back in cylinder 6....
Planning on retesting the resistance on the injector. I am sure I did it a few months ago and it measured fine...not sure what it was or supposed to be anymore. Do you think it is a good idea to swap injector 6 and 1? Thinking I cold swap and then recode to see if the problem goes to cylinder 1. I would just buy another injector but they are not giving them away and I recall the resistance being fine a few months ago... Is there oither tests I should do on the injector besides resistance? I appreciate any advice... |

I will chime in from my own 2010 m57 with 248k km current experience. Been throwing both 4595 smoothness regulator and 4B25 zero quantity adaptation on cyl6 for about 6k km since early September. (this started in conjuction with a Nox sensor code issue) Last week, for the first time, the car started to shake at idle at stops and now I am getting a cylinder 6 misfire code 4CE6 in addition to the other 2. The shaking in my current Ontario winter weather only starts once the engine is well heated up and been driven for some time. the issue is intermittent, at idle in drive with foot on brake, a big pump of gas will fix it most times, however only got progressively worse over last couple of days to undrivable state.
I sourced a new injector on ebay for cheep and will be installing this week. will report back once done but can't see it being anything else. Looks like, smells like, acts like, likely is the injector. Given your codes, I would start shopping around for an injector on ebay so you have it on had once you start misfiring and the x5 becomes undrivable. |

Thanks for posting. I have my injector out and it tested at 190 ohms....going to dismantle the nozzle and try to clean it. Then swap it with clyinder 1. My thinking is that if the resistance is good it can only be clogged....
Will post when i get some drive time with the clean and swap. |

So i decided to get a new injector instead of swapping. After 2 days of driving with the new injector, the zero adaption came back on clyinder 6 twice today. Reset all the adaptions tonight but i think i already tried this once.
Any ideas to try or troubleshoot further? |

One more thing to try....I have read up on a zero quantity learning procedure that is supposed to be done after a CBU clean. Does anyone know anything about this? Can this be done with ISTA?

You can but you'll need an icom cable. Kdcan is too slow to reset adaptations.
Can't remember but you run a test plan on the code?

So last friday i was lookkng around ista snd found a place where you can increase your idle by 10rpms. I decided to try it since my issue is happening while my vehicle coasts down to idle. Figured that by changing the path it takes from 2200 rpm to idle (now+10) that it would require less on a zero quantity.
It seems to have worked....i have not had any issues since the change.... I am going to leave the +10 in for another week and the go back to nominal to see if the issue comes back. Thanks everyone for the help. |
