X6 35D consumption

I just wonder what other members are getting in terms of diesel consumption on 35D model?

I get around 10.6-11 L/100km (UK - 26.8 mpg) on the motorway doing 140-150kmh (UK - 87-93mph) and in the city it may drop down to 16.6L /100km (UK - 17 mpg) in a bad traffic.

These figures are far below the ones stated by BMW, but I wonder if this is only me?

I have a 30d not a 35d, my car has only 1 turbo so maybe my numbers will not help you but anyhow, I do 8kms per liter in city driving ( spirited when I can....) and no less than 16kms per liter on highways ( we have no big highways here so is kind of out of traffic driving)

I use the car in manual almost 90% of the time, that gives me the chance to change gears at the right torque making the car more efficent, if you drive it in Sport mode, the revs will go too high, and the torque curve is not that high

Are you using the computer to measure? Has it been reset?

The best method to determine fuel economy is fill up, reset trip odometer, drive, fill up again and divide the gallons purchased into the miles driven as indicated on trip odometer.

The U.S. changed the way the EPA measures MPG, the stickers are much more accurate now. Granted some will get less and some will get more. It depends a lot on how you drive, terrain, and climate.

Hi chuck92103
The mpg posted by me were not on a computer reset, you are quite right we should reset the computer first, I will do this tomorrow and give the results.

Do you mean 13 liter's per 100Kms ?

If I'm correct you are doing 7.7 kms per liter in the city , and 9.1 kms on a highway ?

Costa Rican Diesel is so poor they don't allow to import the 35d engine, only the 30d, so the 40d probably will be out of the question......

This is exactly how I measure it - fill up the tank and reset the computer!
Computer gives me slightly different numbers compare to odometer divided by gallons.

This is my average as well (I am been driving for two weeks in Belgium).
However, when in the city centre at the rash hour, it really is going up to 15-16

All fuel business ( gasoline and diesel) are imported and run by the government, is a monopoly......saaaaad

We do have Shell and Texaco gas stations, but the fuel sold by them still from the government, they are here because they want to sell their lubricants, and I believe they want to be here the day the monopoly dissapers.

So no V-Power Diesel here...............

why do you take v-power diesel, and not normal diesel ?

Here in lux, normal diesel around 0.9 EUR, add 0.1 for v-power.

i also drive a 35d with DMS engine upgrade/tuning. Mine gives around 27mpg on highway and 23mpg city. I found out that 'correct' pressure in tyres makes a LOT of difference. Seriously, i m doing around 200km less with incorrect pressure. i check tyres pressure twice a month and my 35D always gives >850km in range every time i fill up the tank...
