BMW Performance Accessories now available in North America for the BMW X5 SAV

BMW has announced the North American availability of BMW Performance brand accessories for the trendsetting X5 Sports Activity VehicleŽ. The new BMW Performance parts for the X5 include aerodynamic components, aluminum pedals, special kidney grilles, and a new flat-bottom Sport steering wheel. The new accessories go on sale at Authorized BMW Centers this month.

Aerodynamics

Directly from BMW’s state-of-the-art Munich wind tunnel comes the comprehensive new BMW Performance Aero Kit for the 2011 X5 (excluding X5 M and models equipped with trailer hitch). The Aero Kit, which includes redesigned front and rear bumper covers and side skirts, is specifically sculpted to reduce aerodynamic drag and lift at high speeds, improving stability while making a dramatic, stylish statement. Additionally, BMW Performance has made available a set of black kidney grilles for the X5, which provides a sporty, menacing appearance for the front of the vehicle.

Interior

For the interior, BMW Performance has concentrated on the driver-machine interface, creating a new steering wheel and pedal set. The BMW Performance Aluminum Pedal Kit includes gas pedal, brake pedal, and footrest pedal, ergonomically crafted of aluminum with rubber inserts. The pedals fit all models of X5 and provide enhanced pedal feel for the driver.

Last but not least, BMW Performance has made available a unique multifunction steering wheel for X5 models. This direct replacement for the standard X5 steering wheel features a thick, racing-style, flattened lower rim and is fully covered in hand-stitched Alcantara material (Not available for X5 M and vehicles with Lane Departure Warning).

I saw a 2011 X5 xDrive35i with a bunch of the upgrades on it (all the visual changes except for the Performance wheels - it had the 20" black Y spoke instead). Looked nice, but I personally prefer the look of the M-Sport package, which you can get from factory (and therefore at a much lower cost).

So, where does it say it reduces drag????

"Performance" is not akin to just engine upgrades....if the steering wheels feels more supple, perhaps I can hold onto it tighter...thus allowing me to make corners better. So essentially, I'm performing better...right??

+1. The other thing is BMW Performance is not just about performance modifications. "performance" is different from "Performance." That's just the branding for the accessories. They are sporty modifications/additions, so I personally think the Performance name fits.

I plan on picking this up for mine... BUT, waiting for it to show up on getbmwparts.com, not going to pay $1400 at the local dealership (for the aero kit) Guess I also have to see if this will work once I get my exhaust from Camber-Toe done as well.. Not sure if I will get the rocker kit, doesn't seem worth it. Steering wheel I may pass on, but the pedals are a definate pick up as well... As for the grill, might as well plasti-dip the current grill for $7 and get the same effect...

The performance kit is actually available long time ago. I've bought mine 2 month ago. Trying to put it on non LCI X5. Had to buy rear OEM bumper from LCI.

It consist of 2 kits , which are sold separetly:

1) Front and rear covers , diffusor and rear elerons.
2) Side shkirts

The rear exhaust tips are optional , and they fit kind of weird to fit , atleast to non LCI.

P.S. If anyone want the front part of performance kit , I can sell it to anyone in EU. As I don't need it.
P.S.S. Don't look at crashed 320 , it's a body for a future circuit race car.

parts available on getbmwparts.com here: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...subcat1=163135

$1075 for the Aero Kit, $430 for the rocker kit... This is hell of a lot better than the $1350 for the Aero Kit they wanted on the BMW site, and $540 for the rocker kit. I will be ordering this when my taxes come in...

Do you have a good source for the Performanceparts in EU? The Performance steeringwheel is shouting for me!
