Blind spot monitor

Just figured that there is no blind spot monitor standard or option on the 2013 x6, i heard the car has a lot of blind spots so unless i am missing something why would they leave it out.

Blind Spot monitor is the mark one eyeball and the rear view camera. Use both in conjunction of each other and careful attention when backing up will suffice for BMW purposes I guess.

Not really what blind spot monitor is for, it's for switching lanes and sometimes it's hard to see the small cars in your blind spot.

This may come as a shocker to some of you, but with proper mirror positioning, there are no blind spots in almost any production car, X6 included. Blind spots are a result of decades of improper mirror positioning information, repeated ad nauseum.

Can you just just see the sides of your car in your side view mirrors? Then they are improperly positioned.

All BMW cars with small mirrors can have blind spot monitor option. But with X6/5 large mirrors there is really no need for it..

Another +1 here as well.

I did not know this before, but the instructors at the BMW Performance Center showed us this exact "trick" and I have been using it since Thursday after the PCD on my X6M and it really works.

FWIW - I also have a GL550 which does have the blind spot monitor, and I noticed myself being lazy sometimes and relying on the system too much.

Sometimes technology isn't a good thing.

I read all the reviews about the X6 having limited rear visibility and blind spots, etc. I must say its not as bad as I thought. Using a combination of mirrors and camera I have no issues at all.

Check the BMW Canada Accessories website for the X6 - they offer an angled replacement side mirror for the blind spot...I thought about buying next time I'm in Vancouver BC - prob a pita to install though...

I don't have any blind spot on the right side.
For the left side, I sometimes do shoulder checks if I feel like doing some neck exercise.
