Excessive tyre wear

I think you said you have Bridgestone, right? I may have found something similar to your tyre on their web site. You'll note that the center section is almost completely smooth. That section of the tread is considered a stability section and I think it helps with high speed driving.

You should note that Bridgestone considers the X6 a light truck, so I would think they anticipate some of the same turning geometry and loads (not hauling but weight) that's characteristic of a light truck or SUV (i.e, taller/heaver). That would indicate the slight cuffing you're experiencing is not totally unreasonable. And, yes, my suv had far more advanced normal front tyre wear than the rear tyres.

Tyre pressure is critical is too. My Goodyears are really finicky. In Southern Calif. you get cold desert nights and hot desert days. You could have a tyre defect, an alignment problem or comparing the two tyres in your photos, one looks like it may have different pressure than the other one. It's hard to dial in the correct pressure. You likely don't have that problem in London, but like others have said keep an eye on it. Just my 2 cents.

Thank you all for the kind advice & feedback. After much consideration, I will just monitor the tyre pressure and keep an eye on the 'wear' in the coming weeks! That's one problem behind me & on to the next 'BIG' one...still negotiating with my insurer!

I live in West Sussex and have driven an X6 35D since new in November, it runs on 20" alloys with Dunlop tyres. mostly local driving with a couple of motorway trips, the backs are wearing normally (I previously owned two X5's, an M3, 335i coupe and a 530D M Sport)

However, the fronts are wearing alarmingly quickly with just 2mm left. I had the car checked by the dealer who advised the car is mechanically correct (the wear is even)

I have written to BMW UK enquiring if this is normal (the X5 tyres lasted around 18000 miles!) and await their reply

I will let you know!
