M Button and "Power"

made some searching on the forum but couldnt find a exact topic for it..
im not driving my X6M daily so every time i drive, i drive on MDM and power on.. in E92 M3 power button only means throttle response, just like "sport" button on E46 M3..

in normal mode car feels like producing less power and yeah heavy throttle feeling.. but i guess it works like in E60 M5 that without hitting the power button E60 M5 was producing 400hp.. so it feels like engine map is changing or something else.. anyone experienced concrete difference with and without Power mode? i mean like burns less fuel like %10-20 or 4-5 car length slower till 200kmh without power mode on?

thanks.

Looks like there is just not much by way of solid numbers out there.

If I have the time to get to the track this week, I will see if I can't get enough passes in to see what the rig will run in "normal" drive mode, as well as M mode.

Seems to be just mapping of the throttle, per the manual. I don't think that there's a reduction/increase in power between the settings - more like a built in 'sprint booster' or 'pedalbox'

From what I can tell, it feels like it just makes the pedal more sensitive. I actually prefer it off M mode so I have more consistent throttle response through the entire pedal.

If it's anything like Subaru's SI Drive it's mostly throttle response with a tiny bit of lowering peak boost. On an STI in regular "Sport" it would cap it a few psi short of peak. In S# aka Sharp mode (or if you gave 100% throttle in S) it would hit peak.

No idea on the X6M, but I always found the best fuel economy at the most aggressive setting on 100% highway. Keeping it at a good average mph, minding not to sit there boosting all the time. Sitting at the most aggressive setting in daily stop and go gave the worst fuel economy. The base setting tended to be the best for most situations of mixed street/highway.
