changing cluster from std to metric??

Is it possible to change the instrument cluster to KMH from MPH? Would it be plug and play or do any computers need to adjusted?

You can change the settings via the iDrive controller. Select the main menu by pressing down on the controller from the main screen and you should get to the settings menu. Just look around and change any settings to your preferences!

Of course you can. But that's a job best left to a technician as it involves taking apart some of the dashboard and reprogramming the on-board computer to show km/h rather than mph.

Here is some additional info for you:

You are welcome. Just remember that if you do decide to swap your cluster (I assume it's yours and it is in mph) to a km/h version, you will still need to bring the car into a BMW dealership to get the computer reprogrammed!

In case you undertake this 'operation', take some pictures and make a D-I-Y guide you can post for some other folks

The gauges show both MLG and KMH. Why do you need to change this since you are in the U.S?

I don't think BMW will support this.

The iDrive is programmed for U.S. market and the gauges are for U.S.

If it is done, I doubt warranty will be left.

+1 BMW is frowning on mods and enforcing the frown with warranty.

KPH/MPH

Is it an issue if u have Heads up display?
Then set either in idrive & its done. why have someone work on unnecessary things when other warranty issues will surely come up?

Good point!

I think the Heads Up display will show either mph or km/h depending on your setting in the iDrive system.
