TPMS Malfunction

I just installed some Forgestar F14's and H&R springs on my 2011 X5 50i M Sport. I picked it up after hours and as soon as I started the car, the TPMS warning popped up. I have tried resetting, but it is in a constant loop and the reset is now grayed out. I checked all tires and they are all at 37 psi.

At first, it pointed to the right front tire, and then after trying to reset the first time, it changed to malfunction and won't let me do anything. Is it possible the shop broke one of the sensors? The wheels and tires were already mounted and balanced, the alignment shop just had to mount them and align. Trying to figure out if the wheel company messed up or the alignment shop.

I would post pictures, but I am having a hard time figuring out how to do it. Also, I think Forgestar screwed up on my wheels. They don't seem flush with the car. They are proprietary with their offsets, so I just had to trust them, but I think they are off. I would love to get some opinions first. I am not going to be happy if I have to add spacers to these custom wheels.

It's possible that the shop broke a sensor ... if you dismounted run flat tires, they are notoriously hard to break away from the rim. Sometimes significant force is required.

Go back, or go to any shop that has a TPMS scan tool. It will tell you if the TPMS in that wheel is emitting a signal.

To clarify, these were new sensors already installed on the wheels. I left the sensors on my stock 333's as I am selling them. Isn't there a sensor by the springs as well on the car?

Ah, the plot thickens ... your car is a 2011 (probably build sometime in 2010), that means it uses a certain style of senor. Model year 2011 was a transition year and many owners and shops get it wrong!

If the sensors you bought with the wheels are not the correct ones, they'll never register!

Tell us:
1. production date of your car
2. sensor exact brand, model number (not serial nr) and production date stamped on the sensor body.
3. Do you have a picture?

There is a module under the rear bumper that picks up the sensor signal. This and the sensor in each wheel can be tested with the appropriate scan tool.

September 2010 is the build year. No idea on the exact brand and model number of the sensors, but I will check with the wheel company. Also, if anyone can tell me how to post (can't find the directions), i can post my wheels. I think Forgestar's offset is not right. These wheels seem a bit too tucked in with the drop.

The transition for e70 X5 occurred in 10/2010 (Oct 2010), so yours could be on the cusp. Easy to make a mistake ...

Put your VIN in realoem.com and look up the TPMS OE p/n that corresponds to your car. Then cross reference that p/n with the ones you bought.

What size Forgestar? They have many offsets ... You have a bill of sale, don't you? That should itemize everything you bought ... no?

Any idea where that TPMS would be located in realoem? I can't find the proper category. Forgestars are 20x10.5 in front and 20x12 in the rear with Conti DWS tires on. I think the offset will be ok, but very conservative. Forgestar won't tell you their offsets, which is a bit strange.

So apparently these TPMS sensors are right left sensitive. It may be possible they were just mounted on the wrong sides.
