OBD II Scanner

Hey guys,

Which scanner are you guys using? My cars are all under warranty but I would like to keep a stand alone device in the glove box just in case. I'm looking at the icarsoft scanner which seem to be a nice device but thats all based on youtube videos. In the past I've used the BT scanner and liked it but I'm looking for a stand alone device with a LCD that does not need a computer to display error codes.

Thanks

I was at the shop the other day to pull a code and the tech was using this EasyDiag app. You buy the BT dongle from them and you're good to go. I don't know how good it is but he got the code and cleared it. It at least does that haha.

Yea I'm researching these bluetooth devices now, they seem pretty cool and offer a mock dyno which could be fun..

Not sure if you have a Harbor Freight in your neck of the woods, but there are some sales going on for a handheld unit as low as $69. From there it goes up to closer to $200 for units that are update-able, works on more cars, etc...

My buddy just bought (I used it to check and clear a code on the X) an Autel Maxiscan MS300 scanner. It looked pretty basic, but it read and cleared the codes without any trouble. He paid $20 for it on Amazon...

If you just want an easy/basic standalone unit, this one is perfect. The next time my light pops on, I'll be buying one.

I think the BMW What App is fantastic and user friendly for coding.

I prefer the iobd2 device for diagnosing and clearing codes.

Looks like coding doesn't work with the X5M. I'll have to order the cable.
