looking to pick up '11 x5m, need some help
Hi guys, I am possibly looking to pick up a low mile 2011 x5m. Is there anything I should look out for or any checks I should have the dealer do prior to purchase? Do I need to do walnut blasting, have injectors replaced...etc? Any sight would be great.
-Thanks |

What normally goes wrong with them? If its little stuff I don't care, if the engine is going to fail on me then I don't want it period. So far haven't read much about the car actually dying.
The one I am looking at has a year warranty left on it, but I am probably going to tune it after that's up. |

Another vote for one with warranty. If you search you will find common problems with the x5m like injectors, high battery drain, sway bar links and hoses cracking. I believe since they are still new you won't find any real engine problems yet but I wouldn't take the chance with running it without warranty.

Get Warranty
I will agree with the above. I bought a low mileage 10 and have used the warranty quite a bit for little b/s issues. Personally I would not buy one without.

Get it under 50k miles and you can buy a BMW warranty, otherwise get a 3rd party warranty

If it's at a BMW dealer, they can print out the entire service history so you can see what's already been addressed.

So you're saying I could buy a low mileage model from any dealer and purchase a BMW warranty independently and be covered as if it were a CPO purchased from BMW? These boards have me terrified of potential failures. But I know the ropes because of my e46 M ownership. The VANOS issues almost had me loosing sleep at night. |
