X5M to F15 5.0i M Sport?
I was curious as to whether any former or existing X5M owners have changed or are considering moving to the new X5 5.0i M Sport? Opinions if you have done so or thoughts on the prospective move?
Reason for asking is that while I have closed deal on a 2013 X5M (but pending pick up), I also had a chance to try a 2014 X5 5.0i M sport and was pretty impressed. But, it is not a M car. I think the road presence and steering/handling of the M is more dialled in, while the F15 needs to be in Sport+ mode to feel good. My only concern with that is you can't really drive with Sport+ in the winter as stability control is substantially reduced. Really undecided on this and would welcome members' input. Thanks. |

My previous car was a 50i so I had no experience other than driving several X5M in the past. But your assessment is correct about the handling and steering being more dialed in. That said, on the acceleration front, I have a 2014 X5 M-Sport and it comes VERY close if not equal to the performance of a past X5M (2013, older).
According to C/D: the 2014 50i does 0-60 in 4.3 and the 1/4 in 12.8 @109 mph! To me, that's fast enough. Road holding, it pulls .81g, for a top heavy vehicle weighing 5306 lbs., again not too bad! To me its about the interior which is a lot better than the past models. |

I honestly think the 5.0i M sport is better looking than the actual X5M...that's just my opinion. As far as power and performance, the X5M is the way to go if you just have to have that much power in an SUV. To me, the 5.0i M sport has more than enough power for a daily driver.

Based on your stable you will be much happier in the M in terms of performance/handling. I am also about the newest in technology and interior features and thats where the E70 falls short compared to the F15 which has a much nicer interior/tech. Might be worth waiting for the F15 M version to really get what you're looking for. If you don't plan on keeping the car for more than 1-2 years then I think the current X5M will serve you very well. I plan on keeping mine for another year or two and replacing it with another AWD performance daily driver. It doesn't feel outdated to me yet

I'm on the side that thinks the E70 looks better than the F15, but the looks are totally dependent on the person. As for the interior, i'm of the opinion that new F generation cars interior feels cheap, especially the buttons around the shifter such as the mode change buttons feels like they are just not up to standards

Well, gents, this may be a non starter. Picked up the X5M two days ago and immediately dropped it off for extensive film protection that same night. Yesterday while at work, film guy calls to tell me that rear end was in an accident. Pick it up afterwork and he pointed out all the areas where the rear bumper had been repainted, the lower tailgate, passenger rear quarter panel.
This was not disclosed at the dealer and I am now returning the vehicle tonite. This vehicle was meant as an interim vehicle before the F85 came out, but now that this has been disclosed, trade value on the vehicle will be non-existent. Did not show up on Carfax/Carproof. Assume previous owner or another offending party paid for damages out of their pocket to keep it from registering on title. Unfortunate because it was a low mileage 2013, otherwise in good condition, and just a very horny vehicle. |

I will say, when I looked I experienced 3 X5 M's that were rear ended. It must be the good brakes! 2 had them listed as minor accidents and one was not listed.
