LED headlight Retrofit problems

I retrofitted the halogen headlights to LED a few months ago and absolutely love the way they look...on my way to work the other day I got a bunch of error messages popping up regarding the adaptive headlights

Has anyone else on here who did this retrofit gotten similar problems? I'm thinking maybe its a bad FRM3 module?

I have to drop the truck off to my buddy and let him take a look at it when I get a day off. I accidentally hit a huge pot hole a few months ago that threw a few error messages regarding the adaptive headlights but by the time I got home every thing was working fine(NYC streets suck!!!)...I'm wondering if that may have effected the FRM3 module

There are forums that can flash the FRM3 in case it crashed vs most people assuming it needs to be replaced in case it got stuck into a bootloop mode. Just Google FRM3 repair and you'll find places that'll do the work or directions on doing it yourself.

Just check the error codes first.. Maybe it is just a hight sensor broken after the pothole thing ..

I was unaware they had forums specific to FRM3 repair, I just hope this isn't the beginning of something worse to come since we all know how sensitive these trucks are electronics wise...I'll look into that thanks brother

Yeah, I "fried" my FRM3 when my battery died during the time I was doing the injector swap and/or when my front window was being replaced at my home...everything from headlights, power windows, etc all failed to stop working. My insurance got the window replacement company to pickup the tab and blamed them for hooking all the window sensors back up wrong. I searched around and found www.mhhauto.com or www.b m w coding.com(no spaces) and a few other forums of people who explained it's nothing more than a bootlooping error similar to when a PC would crash. Hopefully you get it sorted, that's a great upgrade I wanna do someday

Did you replace your FRM when you added the LED headlights? If not, the older version may not be able to code them in properly. It will show the option to retrofit LED headlights in Autologic, but you have to have the right FRM3 module. I had all sorts of warnings similar to yours before I replaced my FRM3 with a new one. Once I replaced it, I was able to code it immediately and they have worked perfectly ever since. If you buy one, MAKE SURE IT IS ONE WITH THE ORANGE DOT STICKER!

Good point also on the pothole thing, but I still think it is the FRM.
I have read many threads on about them as I am having an issue with my wife's X5d on the right side headlight. Everything works except the adaptive (side to side steering input motion) feature. It throws an "adaptive headlight control" in the central display, but not a whole list of malfunctions like you what is showing on your display.

Thanks for those links, as soon as I get a day off (graveyard shift sucks!)I'm going to drop the truck off to my buddy who installed them and have him take a look or run a diagnostic check

The LED upgrade is one of my favorite mods as of yet, although it was expensive the new headlights really give the E70 a fresher look

A new FRM3 with the orange dot was installed during the retrofit...I haven't really driven the truck since all the annoying error messages, they literally go off every 2 minutes! I think the pothole I hit may have partially disconnected one of the clips at some point because when I first start the truck and drive it for about 2-3 miles everything works fine, as soon as I drive over the slightest uneven road all hell breaks loose

I work second shift at Boeing from 2pm-10:30pm but I wouldn't have it any other way since I'm not a morning person.

Hopefully it's just a loose connection like you'd mentioned. Start the car and don't move it for like 15 min to make sure it's not a timing out issue vs just bumps.

They're stock headlights that he retrofit, and since you're so smart, I'm sure you see this thread is from 3 years ago...

Do I care? Close the thread then, smart guy. But I might find another open old thread.. Maybe you should have them all closed?
