Big brake kits for X5/X6

If you feel your X5/X6 brakes are too bulky (38 lbs) and are looking for improvement upgrade w/o breaking the bank, we have a good news for you.

RacingBrake (RB) is pleased to announce the availability of a BBK with 400mm front and 396mm rear (same rotor size as M5).

The package includes 6-pot front and 4-pot rear calipers (same as used in M3/M4 Carbon Ceramic Brakes), but we are able to design the necessary hardware and bundle with our center mount two piece light weight rotors so you can have the bolt on kits costing only fraction of others' kits that their rotors are smaller than OE .

Pictures of M3/M4 CCB calipers & rotors:

Front: 400x38mm

Rear: 380x28mm

6k !!!!! Hey I thought they said "without breaking the bank". Lol.

Hell not bad really my Brembo kit was 4500 for the Mini Cooper. And that was just the front!

But man still a lot of cheese.

How do you ensure the brake bias is still the same considering you are using off the shelf components that were not designed for the X5/X6?

Agreed. You're looking at almost 10k for a new set of Brembos front and rear.

Anyone know how these perform vs. the Brembo big brake kit available for the X5M??

For anyone not familiar with Racing Brake, they actually have a very good track record on sales and support. What they don't have is the marketing name nor OEM agreements of Brembo.

As such, IMO Brembo isn't even all that great in many aftermarket cases. I'd take Stoptech before I chose a Brembo kit on my other car (Since both make an application for it)

That said, too rich for my blood. But a nice looking kit none the less.

Looks like a cosmetic upgrade only to me. The contact surface area in the pictures is not improved, so stopping power remains constant. Maybe a slight difference in brake cooling with the drilled rotors, but this also compromises structural integrity somewhat. I'll pass. Pretty though.

The rear set up picture was for test fitment only before we actually make the rotors available, it's now removed to avoid confusion.

These are some serious brake kits developed to stop heavy SUV (MB's ML63, Jeep's G-C SRT8 and Cayenne GTS) and trucks (Tundra, GM1500/2500) that we offer.

They come with 390x36 or 400x36mm front and 390x30mm rear rotors with wide annulus, and huge brake pads with 65-80mm lining height so they should not be confused with those typical brake kits built for light weight track vehicles that you are familiar with (ie. Stoptech/Brembo)

Search more on web and see if there are any comparable brake kits available and what their prices are then you can get a better idea how our prices compare to theirs.

Good question. I am interested in the answer as well. Also will these fit with stock rim size for my winter set up 298m 19" ? I run 22's in the summer so no worries there. Any brake line modifications need to be done? What are the options for low dusting pads?
