Front and rear E70 wheels have a 74.1mm center bore. E71 front wheels have a 74.1mm center bore also, but the rear wheels have a smaller (72.56mm) center bore. This means that you'd have to bore out the rear to 74.1mm, or buy adapters. This is the same for X5M wheels, by the way.

Thanks.

So if I understand...

X6 oem rims cannot fit directly on a X5.

BUT, X5 oem rims can fit on a X6.

If I understand it correctly, the X6 rear wheels are not a direct fit for the X5. But X6 wheels will fit the X5, you just might have to rings to avoid have 1.54mm of play. The odd thing is that some wheels, such as the style 214s, were available on both the X5 and the X6. So I can only assume the 214s on an X6 would come with O-rings or something. Maybe someone else can chime in here?

X6, X6M, and X5M all have rear hubs that are 72.56mm.

X5 has 74.1mm hubs all 4 corners.

So, front wheels are interchangable between all vehicles.

Rear X5 wheels fit X6/Ms with a hub ring.

Rear X6/Ms wheels fit X5 only if bored out or use a hub adapter as in pic.

So did X6s come with hub rings from the factory since both the X5 and the X6 came factory with style 214s?

No. There are different BMW part numbers for the same style wheels. As an example, you note 214. There's a version for X6 and a different part for X5.

I believe some offsets are different also for X6. I have X6M wheels Style 300 on for winter and I noticed the offset is 35 when all the X5M offsets are 37 I believe.

Anyway, no rings for sure.

Very interesting... but that makes sense.

Hub centric rings are not a necessity. All weight is supported between the hub and wheel/hub face. The rings are for centering, but if the lugnuts are done properly, they will self-center as well.

That said, if you used a 74.1mm wheel, on a 72mm hub, just torque properly, rings are not required, just a nice to have.

Nice! Thanks a lot guys!

I was looking for OEM X6 214 rims, but can't work on my X5. I'll wait to looking for style 214, 336 or 333.

Do not do this, the hub will not be carrying the weight, the lugnuts will.

Hello Fellas!

I have first hand experience with this!

I got a set of 214 wheels from X6 and like everyone has mentioned the rears DO NOT fit due 2MM or so. The fronts have no issue. So I decided to have the rims bored out to 74.1mm, each wheel ran me about $65. After that they fit just fine and NO complaints. The boring out is the way to go if you find a good deal, again you have to add the cost and find a rim or machine shop. Good luck!

I did the same with my winter setup with no issues after the rims were bored out!

Oh nice! How will you do to make them fit on the X5?

The X5 rims, you can put hub ring to rear wheels to fit on the X6,

Or will you put adaptop on the rear hub?

Just get them bore the hub size a bit bigger to 74.1 it cost $65 a piece. Can someone confirm the actual correct size? 74 or 74.1??

The point is that hub centric rings are not required. Proper torqueing is the key. Rings were made for the poor saps that install wheels wrong.

And the hubs are actually critical to bearing weight. The lugs just secure it.

Hi All,

trying to understand if I can use 19" V-spoke wheels, style 450 wheels from BMW X5 on my 2016 BMW X6 50i ( currently using original Style 594 19' ) both styles looks very similar but listed # 450 vs 594

Thx Mike

Take a look at the chart below because I'm not sure which model nomenclature your BMWs are. One has to know/understand that changes may occur as a model moves on to the next generation.

Are you mixing wheels from different generation X5s & X6s (E70 to F16) or are you looking at wheels from the same generational cousin X5s & X6s (F15 to F16)?

See the chart below for wheel specs...and you can also pull up the wheels in one of the online part databases to see if they have the same part nbr and are used on other BMW models.

If you aren't familiar with any of the online part databases...see (and save) the sites below...they are invaluable in finding out the answers for questions like you've asked.
