2005 X5 Extended Warranty
Hey guys, Vehicle is a 2005 X5 4.4.
Is it worth getting the extended warranty? I know the transmission on those models is a hit or miss. And what company would you recommend? ( can i get it through BMW, even though its almost 6 yrs old? Wanted to ask here before calling our local bmw dealer. located in IL if it matters.

It's worth it. My X5 had the transmission replaced. It was an $8000 bill that warranty covered. Not worth it as it's a known problem on that car.
They have two different types. Each with it's own deductible and coverage. I would pick the one that mimics the factory warranty. Usually has a $50-$150 deductible. Pricing will vary and they usually have them for 2-3 years.
