Thanks for the info.

i just gave them a call. The ones they are getting in are going to be fulfilling the orders back in December.

So there will be no leftovers for people who just ordered.

strange, I spoke with the guy there on Tuesday and he said there were 4 or 6 showing up this week and they didn't have owners yet.

I just called Tirerack to check up on my order. The lady told me that it will likely be the end of February..(in a very unfriendly manner).

First they told me they would get it by Jan 7. Then it gets delayed to Jan 28. Now the end of Feb. This is becoming very frustrating.

I haven't yet to find the "tire hunters" in my local area that coachk101 suggested. I guess I will not be using the DWS for snow this season.....

So I am debating the following choice for the winter months:

Choice 1: buy new set of wheels (without staggered setup) and put pirelli ice rft (I need rft as I don't have the spare option)

Choice 2: buy Continental DWS non-rft and put them on OEM wheels - cheaper but would have to worry about them being non-rfts and being stuck in the mioddle of nowhere if a tire blows up.

What do you guys think?

Thanks.

well, I am going for choice #2. But when you receive the tires, it will probably be scorching summer already.

What do people think about running a staggered setup winter tires. I heard that wide rear tires like the OEM 315s do poorly in snow.

Bmw X6 / X5 Factory...you Reading This?

So....just ordered my 2012 X6 5.0 (production week 14, April 5). I hope BMW is reading how customers prefer the Continentals....and not the Dunlop or Bridgestone RFTs.

The OEMs if you have summer performance tires will just plain out kill you (I mean dead) if driven in winter conditions.

I went square 275s blizaks all the way around, the car was rock solid in everything the winter had to offer.....not that it is over yet but I am hoping for spring any day now. 315s will tend to ride on top of the snow and you really want to cut through it........Steve

Great News Guys!

I put the DWS' on order with tirerack and discounttire 2 days ago tirerack said 6-8+ weeks. I got a call from discounttire today and they told me they had my tires and they were shipping them! This is amazing. The salesman said it was tough but he got them for me. PM me for his name and extension. Your best bet is to deliver through them because everyone is getting a small amoutn of these 275/40/20's but they have a lot fewer orders than tirerack. PM me for the salesperson name and extension.

I am so excited I can't wait! So glad I didn't have to settle with another tire.

Edit: Availability shows 3/16 on tirerack so you guys might be in luck.

I just got off the phone with Tirerack.
There are currently 2 left in stock shown in the website, however, the sales told me that they do not have any in stock. So I guess the number shown in the website is wrong.

By the way, the price of DWS in Tirerack has gone up from around $880 to $950.

I spent 1150 with tax shipping and warranty on all 4 tires. They are actually arriving at the shop today and I'm going in to install them and get an alignment done. Can't wait.

Showing in stock at tirerack today. Just ordered a staggered 275/40/20 and 315/35/20 set for $1100 shipped. I'm stoked. Been hesitant to switch from RFT's to Non-RFT's because I thought I didn't have a spare. I finally decided to double check and what do you know, spare included with my 2011 35i, even with RFT's from the dealer. Going from Dunlop Sportmax DSST's to the CONTI ExtremeContact DWS should be dreamy. The stock Bridgestone RFT's ride like a dream compared to the Dunlops, and I hear the Conti's ride like a dream compared to the Bridgestones.

Now to get some spacers and lowering springs.

I switched to the Continentals the day my X6 Hybrid arrived , I sold the Dunlops for $200 more that what I paid for the Conti's . They work good in snow and are great on the highway , around town driving they are ideal , sort of the best of all worlds !

Just curious now that you had those Conti's DWS put on about 2 years ago, how many miles on them and would you buy again. I have a 2012 X35D with the crappy Dunlop RFT that are down to 4/32" at 12,500 miles.
