2011 X5 35d Next Saturday - Thoughts on Service Inclusive Plus
All,
I'm pretty stoked. Taking posession of my first BMW - 2011 X5 35d - after many moons behind the wheel of various Audi products. My apologies in advance if this has been addressed elsewhere on the board, but I am curious as to what people think about the economics of the BMW Service Inclusive Plus full maintenance bundle. Is it worth the approximately $CAD 2200 they charge for it (4/80,000KM)? I've heard horror stories about SUVs mowing through brakes, which is the big reason I am weighing the purchase. Incidentally, I am super pumped about the diesel. Love the torque - not to mention the fuel economy. Went with space grey on cinnamon with Premium, Executive and Technology packages. Any thoughts/comments are appreciated. Cheers, TRC |

Hi Cap,
If I were you, I would not purchase the extended warranty now. You have 4 yrs/50K miles of free maintenance. See where you are in a few years and then go from there |

Are we sure that Canada gets the free maintenence? It seems possible that they don't.

Maintenance plan in Canada
Indeed, "regularly scheduled" maintenance is included for the first X-number of years/KMs. That said, the dealer is prompting me to purchase an additional service package - "BMW Inclusive Service Plus"

In Canada they only get's fluids with the warranty, this basically adds the things to get it to the same point as we get in the US, brakes, rotors, wipers etc.
It is really only the brakes that make it worth anything, if you are going to do that actual mileage, you are probably looking at the plan covering 1 brake service, possibly 2. If you are going to have the dealer do the brakes, it may pay for itself, see how much they charge for a full brake service including pads and rotors. Personally I would find a good independent mechanic and just pay for the brakes that way and it would be cheaper than the service plus plan.
