X5D DIY oil change
So I'll be changing my oil on the X5D in between free maintenance plan.
Is there anything unique about changing the oil for the X5d vs any other car? For example, my M3 has 2 drain bolts...etc. Does anyone have all the part numbers handy for the OEM oil, filter, and drain bolt plugs?

You can buy it as a kit.
https://www.getbmwparts.com/partloca...egoryID=164147 Its pretty pricey at 103. My dealer charges 120 and i just let them do it. Then i dont have to get all dirty lol |

Also, I can't find info in the manual on how much oil the engine needs, anyone have that information?

Nothing unique. Around 8 quarts of 5w-30. It is good we still have oil dip stick instead of checking oil level through Idrive. I use castrol edge professional OE.

thanks for your input. is there also some type of diesel fuel filter that needs to be replaced? I'm not talking about the oil filter.

replace fuel filter once every 2yrs or every other oil change. That's like once every 20,000 miles considering oil changes are done every 10,000 miles. Filter is located under the car by the driver side. Pretty much straightforward, remove the old and replace with new then prime (swith on ignition without starting engine for about a minute) to remove air in system.
Release clamp (1). Disconnect the hose. Remove the clip (2). Remove the system (3) for heating the fuel in a direction indicated by an arrow. Release screws and remove the fuel filter (4). Installation: Rearrange clips. |
