Cooling fan running after engine is turned off

Just purchased a V-8 4.4L X6 E71 and kind of new to this engine. Before all my X5's had a 3.0L engines and this was not observed with them. Now, every time, after driving the car for a while and then turning the engine off, electric cooling fan in front of the car keeps running for approximately 1 minute even after the engine is turned off. Does anyone, who is familiar with V-8 4.4L engine, know if this is normal or should I start getting concerned with it? Thank you for feedback on this one

Normal. My car does it too all the time. I think i remember someone saying its the design of the engine that needs extra cooling even after the engine shuts down.

Yep, normal. My X6M does the same thing. People always think I forgot to turn off the motor or something. She just needs a cooling off period, that's all.

in the "old days" you would see someone with a turbo drive up then sit there and idle the car for 5-10 minutes to let the turbos cool down.

Turbo cooling function. Completely Normal. If you DON't hear it, you may have a problem.

Normal

Hey , I have the x6 3.5 and it happens from time to time .. also sometimes when I turn the car on .. the fan works on high RPM and starts to drop little by little ..
I think this is because of summer and the high temp.
