Seat Upgrade Question- New X5 Owner
Hello all,
Just picked up my dream car last weekend- a 2011 X5 35d. Picture attached. It has the base seats which I immediately want to upgrade. I am hoping for some guidance regarding compatibility. I realize there are comfort seats and sport seats out there. Is it a straight swap? Are connectors the same? Is this a lot more involved of a process than I am predicting? I have the LCI model and would look for seats (either sport or comfort) from another LCI model to keep things simple. Any advice? |

Welcome, the car looks
I like the comfort Seat over the sport Seats. Do u have Seat heating ? If not and the new Seat have that you also need an new airco cluster with heating button. The old seats are the manual or electric? I did an upgrade in an E90, basic to everyting, and it’s not difficult but it could give you some headack. Try to buy seats with the connectors from the car present. Also the seats work with a data bus, so the need to get connect to the data bus on the car, and they should be coded to the car. |

Thanks for the response Daytonaswim! I should have provided that information initially.
The seats are the base power seats with lumbar support (electric). They also have the seat heating function. My mechanic would be able to do all of the necessary coding. I am just wondering if connectors look the same and if the seats would use the same rail etc. Thanks! |

Rails are same. If I remember right you have to repin/jumper a wire or two as comfort seats have bending seat backs, adjustable rib support and the thigh bolster are all powered.
