2010 x5m not going into launch control

So my wife and I recently purchased a 2010 x5m with 125k. It has a traction control light on but has gone into launch control a hand full of times already. But now for some reason it won't show the checkered flag in the dash and isn't going into launch control. I was wondering what parameters needed to be met for it to go into launch control? My traction control light is related to k-can codes. Could it be something like transmission is low on fluid? Or diff fluid? Transfer case fluid? Bad gas or low octane gas?

I think I fixed the issue. I went through and reset all my service reminders and it started working again.
