x5d owners with sport pack

Hey guys, I have the 214s on the diesel and just swapped for snow tires on 209s and I was blown away with the torque and acceleration ... the 214 reps are sport suspension tires(275 40 20s & 315 35 20s Toyo Proxes II) rears weigh abt 100 lbs and front a little less but its hogging the car down like crazy... did anyone of you guy experience this ???? If so what are my options to put lighter 20" rims, the tires are like feather, its those damn rims (20 x 9.5 ET 40 & 20 x 10.5 ET 28).... surprisingly no change in mpg

I noticed the same thing immediately. I run Rennen forged 20s in the summer, this winter I swapped for 214s with 275/40-20 blizzaks and noticed the additional weight immediately.

Of course. Reducing unsprung weight will definitely increase usable hp & tq, resulting in quicker acceleration. I run Forgelines on my '96 Viper GTS for this very reason. Any racer will tell you the same. Works in any application.

do you think it makes sense to swap the 20"s with 18x10 & 18x11 and put same width tires (275, 315s) -- would the overall weight reduce ? Rohanas make some concave 18"s but I've to see if they're TUV rated (high strength)..

weight is the price you pay for vanity. I'm sure there are lighter 20's out there, but you'll also pay up for it.

I also noticed the weight actually through handling my replacement tires. The rears weight a lot. I still haven't handled a wheel yet, but I can imagine how much that'll weigh with the tires.

I have a set of 18s from my M3 with tires, and I thought those were heavy....

My opinion, no. If you really wanna reduce the unsprung weight at each corner, pony up the $$ for some nice FORGED wheels that can handle the X5's capacity and keep your 20" tires. 18" don't look right on these X5's IMO.

I have been running Rennens for the past 5 years, forged monobloc wheels. No need to pay 10k for wheels from that notorious scammer Jordan and ADV.1 (I'm sure you can find the stories from when he owned 360 Forged if you look).

I was thinking some lightweight 19" wheels in same width as 214s?
And non-RFT should bring the weight down significantly.
